〜といっても

Meaning

Expresses that reality is not as significant as what would be imagined from what was just said, adding the actual situation afterward as a correction. It shows the gap between the impression given by words and reality, so as not to overstate things. Used as in "though I call it cooking, it's something simple."

Examples

庭があるといっても、猫の額ほどの広さだ I have a garden, but it is only about the size of a postage stamp.
引っ越したといっても、隣の駅に移っただけだ I moved, but I only went to the next station over.
貯金があるといっても、たかが知れている I have savings, but it is nothing to speak of.
社長といっても、社員は私一人だけだ I am a company president, but my only employee is myself.
