Meaning

Indicates setting a matter aside without discussing it, to focus on and emphasize the latter. Postpones the former to shift focus to the main point.

結果はともかく、最後まで全力を尽くしたことが大切だ。 Regardless of the result, what matters is that you gave your all until the end.
味はともかく、この店は値段が安くて助かる。 The taste aside, this restaurant is cheap and that helps.
