〜を通じて／〜を通して

Meaning

Expresses doing something through a means or intermediary. It also means throughout an entire period or range. 「友人を通じて知り合う」 is the means usage; 「一年を通して」 is the period usage.

共通の友人を通じて、彼と知り合った I got to know him through a mutual friend.
テレビを通して世界の出来事を知る Through television, I learn about events around the world.
この地方は一年を通じて温暖だ This region is mild throughout the year.
面接を通して、人柄を見極める Through the interview, we assess the person's character.
