〜に際して／〜に際し
Meaning
Means at the time of doing something special. A formal, literary expression used on the occasion of an important event or opportunity. Used at milestone occasions, as in 「卒業に際して」.
Examples
- 卒業に際して、恩師に感謝の手紙を書いた Upon graduation, I wrote a letter of thanks to my mentor.
- 入会に際し、規約への同意が必要です Upon enrollment, agreement to the rules is required.
- 契約の更新に際して、内容を見直す Upon renewing the contract, the terms will be reviewed.
- 開店に際し、記念品を配布いたします On the occasion of the store opening, commemorative gifts will be distributed.
