〜こそあれ

Meaning

Means "there may be ~, but," granting a matter and then stating a judgment in opposition to it. A stiff, written-style concessive expression; either an affirmative or negative conclusion may follow.

Examples
  1. 多少の不便こそあれ、田舎暮らしには得がたい魅力がある。 There may be some inconvenience, but country life has an irreplaceable charm.
  2. 程度の差こそあれ、誰にでも悩みはあるものだ。 The degree may vary, but everyone has worries.
  3. 感謝こそすれ、彼を恨む気持ちは少しもない。 I feel nothing but gratitude toward him, not the slightest resentment.
