〜ところを

Meaning

Presents the premise "even though it is such a situation," then states something contrary to it or a feeling of apology. Also used in greetings, as in 「お忙しいところを」 (while you are busy).

Examples

お忙しいところをお越しいただき、ありがとうございます。 Thank you for coming despite being busy.
危ないところを、通りがかりの人に助けられた。 I was in danger, but a passerby saved me.
本来なら直接伺うべきところを、書面で失礼いたします。 I should visit in person, but please excuse this written communication.
