〜のいた

Meaning

Expresses a feeling at its utmost extreme, "feeling extremely ~." Mostly a formal expression for emotions such as joy, honor, or embarrassment, used in greetings and letters. Attaches to a limited set of nouns, as in 「光栄の至り」 (the height of honor) or 「赤面の至り」 (utterly mortifying).

Examples
  1. このような賞をいただき、光栄の至りです。 Receiving such an award is the utmost honor.
  2. 若気の至りで、当時はずいぶん無茶なことをしたものだ。 In the rashness of youth, I did quite a lot of reckless things back then.
  3. 皆様の前でこのような失敗をしてしまい、赤面の至りです。 Making such a mistake in front of everyone, I am deeply embarrassed.
