Meaning
Expresses that something of the same kind is added to a matter. With the additive meaning of 「そのうえ」 (on top of that), good things are stacked on good, and bad things on bad.
Examples
- この部屋は狭いうえに、日当たりも悪い This room is cramped, and on top of that, it gets poor sunlight.
- 彼女は仕事ができるうえ、人柄もいい She is capable at work, and on top of that, has a good character.
