〜をはじめ（として）
Meaning
First gives one representative example, indicating that, with it at the head, there are many other things of the same kind. The most prominent example is placed first, followed by others of its type. The form 「〜をはじめとする」 can also modify a noun.
Examples
- 校長をはじめ、多くの先生が式に出席した The principal and many other teachers attended the ceremony.
- 東京をはじめとして、全国に支店がある Starting with Tokyo, there are branches all over the country.
- 社長をはじめとする幹部が会議に集まった The executives, led by the president, gathered for the meeting.
- ビタミンCをはじめ、さまざまな栄養素が含まれている It contains various nutrients, including vitamin C.
