Meaning
Indicates that, taking something as the first trigger or starting point, things unfold one after another. Mostly used for scenes where activities or events spread in succession.
Examples
- 東京公演を皮切りに、全国ツアーが始まった。 Starting with the Tokyo performance, the nationwide tour began.
- 彼の発言を皮切りにして、次々と反対意見が出された。 Starting with his remarks, opposing opinions were raised one after another.
- この新製品を皮切りに、同社は海外展開を加速させた。 Starting with this new product, the company accelerated its overseas expansion.
