〜がち

Meaning

A suffix expressing that something tends to happen often, or that there is a tendency toward it. Mostly used for undesirable tendencies, as in "tends to be late" or "prone to getting sick." Attaches to the -masu stem of a verb or to a noun.

Examples

冬は運動不足になりがちだ In winter, one tends to lack exercise.
彼は子どものころ、病気がちだった When he was a child, he was often sick.
