〜とともに
Meaning
Expresses accompaniment, meaning 「〜と一緒に」 (together with). It also expresses that as one thing changes, the other changes accordingly, or the coexistence of two qualities in the sense of 「〜であると同時に」. A somewhat formal expression.
Examples
- 家族とともに、新しい町へ引っ越した Together with my family, I moved to a new town.
- 年を取るとともに、体力が衰えてきた As I grow older, my physical strength has declined.
- 彼は研究者であるとともに、二児の父でもある He is a researcher and, at the same time, a father of two.
