〜きり（で）

Meaning

Indicates that, taking something as the last point, no action or change follows afterward. Describes a state that occurs only once and does not continue. Often used in the form 「〜たきり」.

Examples

彼とは去年会ったきり、一度も連絡を取っていない。 I met him last year, and we have not been in touch since.
朝出かけたきりで、夜になっても帰ってこない。 He left in the morning and has not come back even at night.
祖母は病で寝たきりになってしまった。 My grandmother became bedridden due to illness.
