〜限りだ
Meaning
Expresses that the speaker's present feeling is as strong as can be. Attaches to emotion i-adjectives to state the extreme of that feeling, as in 「うれしい限りだ」 (couldn't be happier) or 「うらやましい限りだ」 (terribly envious).
Examples
- 長年の友人にこんな場所で再会できるとは、うれしい限りだ。 Running into an old friend in a place like this fills me with joy.
- 一人でこの広い家に住むのは、心細い限りだ。 Living alone in this large house makes me feel nothing but uneasy.
- 君が海外で活躍していると聞き、うらやましい限りだ。 Hearing that you are doing well overseas, I am truly envious.
