〜いかんで（は）／〜いかんによって

Expresses that the result is determined depending on the content or degree of a matter. It is a stiff, written-language expression stating that the latter clause changes according to the content of the condition, as in 「試験の結果いかんで進路が決まる」. It takes the form 「N（の）いかん」. In contrast to this pattern (where the result changes with the condition), when the result stays constant regardless of the condition, 「〜いかんにかかわらず」 is used.
