〜とは限らない
Meaning
Partially negates a common assumption, saying that things are not always necessarily so. In the form 「必ずしも〜とは限らない」, it states that exceptions are possible.
Examples
- 高い物が必ずしも良い物とは限らない Expensive things are not necessarily good things.
- 日本人だからといって、敬語が得意とは限らない Being Japanese doesn't necessarily mean one is good at honorific language.
